Does anyone know of a good dog obedience training school where I can send my 1yrold chow/shepherd to in socal?

Its been difficult trying to train my dog for the past few months and I find myself having less time to spend with her right now but that is only temporary. However, I would like to send her off to a dog school where she can spend a couple of weeks learning how to be obedient and great dog. I used to spend a great amount of time working diligent with her by reading books, watching the dog whisperer and other dog training videos and they only seemed to work a handful of times. Please let me know if you have any personal experience with sending your dog off to a training school in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA and getting great results! Thanks!

Obedience classes are for dogs AND their owners. Find some training classes and MAKE the time to go with your dog. Having someone else train her is completely pointless if you aren’t there as well learning how to handle YOUR dog.

"I used to spend a great amount of time working diligent with her by reading books, watching the dog whisperer and other dog training videos and they only seemed to work a handful of times." all of that time could have been spent in obedience classes with your dog being shown how to train your dog by a LIVE person.

How much is a kitten normally at a humane society?

i want to adopt from the greater nashua Humane Society, but roughly, what would be the average price overall to adopt a young kitten? (please include all expenses)
thank you!

To adopt a Kitten from the human society..your looking at around $200. Thats for the adoption, spay or neuter (which should be discounted or free), Initial shots and exam from your Veterinarian, and any flea and tick prevention you may use. Another cost maybe registering with your county if they require cats to be registered.

help with finding a no-kill pet shelter for cat?

My fiance got a cat a few months ago but he has to get give her away now. He’s crushed, and there’s no way he’s going to give her away to a shelter that could euthanize her. Does anyone know of a good, no kill shelter for cats? He wanted to find her a home where he knew the people but so far no one can take her.
Sorry. Denver, Colorado

Enter your zip code and look at the shelter descriptions. Pet Harbor tends to have smaller, private shelters as they charge less.

Do you know of any Animal Shelters looking 4 volunteers (age 12 and up) in the Harris county in Houston? I’m SOOOO bored and I’d really like to help animals. If you know any thing help me puh-lease.
(ps. If you have information on ANY volunteering 4 12 year ols and up, please tell me)

How can we promote our animal rescue?

I work with a new Animal Rescue. We aren’t a shelter, but get animals that are going to be euthanized and place them in foster homes until they can be adopted. We have a website and advertise on Craig’s List. I’m just not sure what other ways I could suggest we market ourselves to let people in our area check us out before they adopt.

Our local horse rescue has a cool idea, with a few adjustments you could make it work for dogs too!

They put eligible horses in foster homes with qualified people who have 100 days to train them. And in September they had a competition type event, and there were some things every horse/rider pair had to do, and they got points. And the winner at the end got ribbons and a trophy. There was also a ‘freestyle’ event where the horses and riders got to show off their special tricks, etc. At the end there was an auction to adopt the horses. All the bidders had to be pre-qualified with the rescue.

For dogs, you could have them show off their sit, stay, down, etc. And for the freestyle, they could show off any agility training they’ve learned, or flyball, frisbee, or anything else.

___

You could also put flyers in pet stores, featuring some animals that are up for adoption, or that need foster homes.

You could put ads up on PetFinder.com

Good luck!
