May 27, 2010 | 19 | Animal RescueI am 14 right now and u have 2 be 15 to volunteer at the humane society. I don’t turn 15 tell next summer. I already participate in as many fundrasers and events posible. But I don’t feel like I am doing enough. Please help.
Wait until next summer. Why are kids always rushing into everything? Enjoy your life, try to volunteer in another place. Waiting a year isn’t gonna kill you. Be patient and if you want to, just call them up and ask them if you can do something right now. If they say no, tell them you’ll willing to volunteer next summer and would like to be able to plan it in advance so you can have something to look forward to that will actually happen.
No matter what we all do, it will never be enough. That’s human nature. Just be patient and wait for next year. Plan ahead. If they know your name from the fundraising and such, you’ll have that to go on. You’re only 14, there are people 3 times your age who feel they don’t do enough even if they’ve done plenty. You have done more than other kids your age and you should be proud of yourself for that. Like I said, be patient. Everything will fall into place soon.

It varies – call your shelter and ask. Here, it’s over $400.
add: I’m in a smaller town – and about a 2 hour drive from other, even smaller towns. Our local shelter sucks – they only want the $$$$, don’t give a rats-ass about the dogs.
May 27, 2010 | 15 | Pet ShelterI was wondering if it is consider a donation when I send in coupons to animal shelters. See what I want to do since this economy is in the dumps right now, I want to start a program or something along that line and donate coupons to shelters since some of my local shelters are having financial difficulties are planning to close if they don’t get help from citizens. So I would like to help them out and other animal shelters around the country-USA.
I forgot to mention this I know it might be too late but could these animal shelters use cleaning product type coupons too besides pet food?
Animal shelters could definitely use your coupons. Why not spread the word to yours friends as well–the more coupons the better. This is an excellent idea!
My mom’s and my budget have tightened in the past few months due to some issues with my stepdad leaving us. I was wondering if it was possible to take my dog to the local humane society and have the vet give her a check up. Our regular vet’s clinic charges high prices for a regular checkup. All feedback is highly appreciated.
Most local humane society organizations do not have vets on staff. Many do have emergency funding available for people who are responsible but in a hard spot. Call your local organization and explain your situation. they may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck
I was just wondering why the pet stores or shelters charge more money for a small dog then a larger dog, regardless of the breed, why cant the prices be the same for the sizes, whats the reason for this?
supply and demand. more people want small dogs.
My bearded dragon is really sick, I no longer can afford to keep him, and I need to have someone take him in, but I can’t find any place or anyone who will take him in. I just want him to get better and healthy before he dies. Also does it cost money? I’ve never really experienced anything with animal shelters and such. [Please do not judge me and yell at me as I am not a horrible person, things happen]
**nevermind guys,he wasn’t awake when I woke up. But thanks for helping. I’m horrible…** ![]()
Depends on the animal shelter whether they cost money or not. SPCA works on a donation program. Human Society works for profit.
If it was a cat, there’s a workaround for it (telling ‘em it was around your yard for less than a month and it’s a stray). But bearded dragons they don’t really take (have to call around and ask because it varies by state).
Best place to take it is to a pet shop. They’ll buy it from you most of the time.
Humane Society and SPCA will kill it soon after arriving if it’s not young enough or even good enough to adopt. Some places keep it longer than others but they have to make room because of all the stays that’s always going in.
Sometimes they sell it to a pet shop themselves after making it healthy.
As I said, call around and ask. It varies state by state and shelter by shelter.
