what do animal shelters do if a snow storm hits?

I was thinking about this today since it started snowing here and it never ever does. So I was wondering what animal shelters do to help keep the dogs warm when the cages have wire tops to them? Or other things to keep them safe?
Just Curious
Thanks!

The shelter where my dog comes from has small heaters in each kennel. I guess extra blankets are also given out too.

I’ve never come across a kennel that JUST has a wire top. Usually there is some sort of solid roof on top of that too. What happens if it rains? Even if there is an outside run to a kennel, there should always be some sort of shelter from bad weather provided.

They usually set up thing ahead of time. Most shelters usually keep their dogs in a heated area or with blankets and other things to keep them warm.

on pitbulls and parolees they spread out plastic on the sides and the top of the kennels, and the dogs have their houses too,and give them blankets, they may appreciate help cleaning up after it passes if you were thinking of volunteering.

It doesnt snow here, but when its cold the shelter for which I foster puts coats and sweaters on the small, short coated dogs (my mom knit a whole bunch of washable wool sweaters for them one year).

All the dogs have crates or doghouses inside the cages, with warm blankets inside.

They usually just euthanize the pets on the spot, there is no need to pay the heating bill for a bunch mutts.
