What organization monitors area Animal Shelters?

There is an Animal Shelter in Porter County, Indiana that needs to be checked on as far as the care of the animals and the general operation of the facility. Is there an animal-rights organization that makes periodically checks on Animal Shelters?

Have you tried calling your local humane society? In our city there are Animal Control agents there that do this type of thing but its not true in all cities as our neighboring city does not have this.
