May 10, 2012 | 14 | Adopt a PetI’ve been trying to find a local rat rescue or adoption agency around Westminster, MD.
I want to adopt 1 or 2 rats. My dog died last year and I’m ready for a new baby to spoil:)
Does anyone know of any places?
Thanks
Here’s a rattery in Maryland:

They would probably know about the animal rescue groups and/or shelters.
Good luck!

Uncle Vinny & Kathy stopped by the Greenville Humane Society in Greenville, NC to see how they could help.
The volunteers keep this facility clean and beautiful. Every available cat and dog is very happy, healthy and ready for their new homes.
Please watch this video and pass it on to friends who have a soft spot in their heart for animals.
Thank you. -TeamIK

May 05, 2012 | 0 | Adopt a PetI would like to adopt a pet but the SPCA charges a $75 fee to adopt an animal. I would like a small cute kitten that has been examined by a vet and is ok for me to adopt.
most of the time the adoption fee is just to cover the time the animal spent with the group. They may include the spay/neuter fee but alot dont. They may also give you a cupon for the spay/neuter but you need to check with the vet anyway on price. the cupon most of the time covers only the procedure, not the stay at the vets or even the check up and shots. adopting a kitten means you will have to take it to the vet at a later date for the proceduresine they cant do it at a tender young age. i would sugest adopting an older cat as it will only cost you the yearly check up and most shelters have many to choose from and free adopt a cat days. or fid a free litter and then only have the reg, vet bills to pay. good luck
I saw that you can adopt a pet on avatars but I cant see how, anyone have any ideas?

The Sadie Mae Foundation is an animal rescue league located in Bolton, CT.
“Sadie Mae Foundation Animal Rescue League Inc. is a non-profit (501c3) rescue organization. We are a small group of individuals, dedicated to rescuing animals from local shelters when they have run out of time and are in danger of euthanasia. We strive to educate the public on the necessity of spaying and neutering, responsible pet ownership, and how to run animal shelters more efficiently.” For more information, please visit www.sadiemaefoundation.org
Anyway, most of the animals in this video are available for adoption. I made this a while ago and just decided to post it now, so some of them already have homes. The first two puppies shown are already adopted, just for your information. In your comments you can ask me if a certain dog shown is available and I’ll let you know. Or you can just go to the website (www.sadiemaefoundation.org) visit the Animals For Adoption and look for the one you like.
Also, most of the pictures here are mine, and others are from the other volunteers. I do not own the song!

Apr 13, 2012 | 1 | Adopt a PetI know that buying from a pet store is a BIG no-no, so obviously that’s not an option. Now the question, in your personal opinion, is it better to adopt from a shelter, like those that are state-run (that do euthanize) in order to "save" an animal from being put-down, or from a no-kill shelter or rescue group that does not euthanize at all.
I regularly donate to several no-kill shelters and rescues in my area, so either way they get my support, I’m just wondering what you all would do.
As an independent rescuer, I would personally rather see people adopt from the animal control facilities. You are literally saving a life, and taking at least one fur kid out of danger. I work very closely with three animal control facilities, and that is where I "pull" some my rescues from, once they are in my rescue, they are safe, they are 100% vetted, spayed/neutered (which our ac’s do not do) and then they are adopted out to wonderful approved homes for a fee that usually just covers the vetting. I have pulled many pure breeds straight out of the pounds, as well as mutt pups! If I were a "private citizen" not involved with rescue, I would go to the pound….that is what I always did before I ever started rescue work, and my personal pets are all from the pound as well….at least give those "Pound pups" a chance before you make a final decision. Also, please do not support Puppy Mills or backyard breeders…..my motto is always, "Don’t Breed or Buy While Shelter Animals Die"
