How much does it cost to adopt a dog from the Humane Society?

How much would it cost to adopt a maltese dog from the Humane Society?
In Canada. :)

It depends if the dog is spayed/neutered sometimes or not. If they did it then they throw that in the adoption fee, if not then the dog is cheaper but you have to get the dog fixed in a certain amount of days. Or some humane societies fix them all before rehoming them.
At our humane society male dogs are $140.00 and females $180.00
Which I think is sort of expensive for rehoming a pet and saving it.
Here is our shelter website (just for an idea of prices)

Scroll down tell you see the prices and it will tell you what the prices are.
A little above all the different animals prices it tells you what the price includes. – surgical sterilization – micro chipping -vaccinations and deworming.
You can also call.
Good Luck, and thank you for looking through shelters. It is much appretiated! [:

Depending on where you live depends on price. Its different everywhere. And shelters aren’t like a breeder they don’t just have purebreds everywhere, you’re most likely not going to find a purebred Maltese. If you specifically want a Maltese look into a Maltese Rescue.

Still in Canada it would be different depending on where you live. You can call your local shelter and ask them, they would know because they work there.

Probably depend on the area but around $85 to $95. This is because the dog has been spayed by them or the $$ will be used to spay one and it helps cover the cost of care they’ve done for it. When we adopted Roxie (cat) it was $75. She had already been spayed and had her first shots.

Usually what you pay turns out to be cheaper than if you would have had the animal from a pup and spent the $$ on all the visits to the veterinarian to get the shots and spaying done while growing up.

Their fees are well worth it.

I live in Calgary,Canada. I got mine for $200. But this included recent vet check up, all vaccines up to date, dog fixed and 5 lessons of dog training. Besides just think that you’re giving this money as donation anyway.

Phone them and ask, each has a different pay rate.

I’d also phone your animal control unit, you CAN adopt through them as well and they do get purebreds in regularly.
