The puppies in this video are from the Humane Society and are being fostered because they are too young to be put up for adoption. Young puppies and kittens are dropped off at the Humane Society for various reasons. Most commonly, irresponsible breeders do not want to care for the puppies anymore. As a foster family, our job is to care for puppies like these until they are old enough to be placed into a permanent home. The puppies in this video are estimated to be three weeks old. At the time of this video, the puppies are all under two pounds each. Because this litter is so young, they need to be bottle fed every few hours, even throughout the night. It is a lot of work to volunteer as a foster home, but it is also very fulfilling.
The puppy with a pink collar is a girl and her name is Mercedes. The puppy with green collar is a boy and his name is Cadillac. The little boy with a yellow collar is Lamborghini. The black and brown puppy is a girl named Ferrari. Bentley is the black and white boy.
Before you buy from a breeder or, worse, a pet store, please take a look at your local animal shelter or humane society. There are so many fantastic animals looking for a second chance and a loving home. Also go to your animal shelter to find out more about fostering or other volunteer opportunities.

i saw about 4 cats in a pet store, but there werent alot so it seemed like hey were poorly treated. in the shelter here are tons of cats but hey are all cramped in small cages. where should i get a cat?
i no alot of people feel strongly about geting cats from shelters. i dont disagree but they all need homes, right?
I hear your dilemma. I also wonder what to do when thinking about those animals. People always say "don’t but at a pet store, you are supporting the puppy’kitty mills" but what are they going to do if your don’t purchase them? they are going to sit there until someone does, why not you? and the purchase of just one pet can’t be making or breaking someplace like that.
But, on the flip side, those poor animals in shelters! They are packed in there with so many others, fighting for food. And most shelters kill an animal after it’s been there for "too long".
I personally would go to the shelter. I have a cat, now 2 yrs. old. from a shelter. she was 6 weeks when I got her and I love her. She is not a Pure Bred, but she also was not thousands of dollars either. I guess the choice is yours.

I am doing some research on Animal Shelters. I do not need info on "no-kill" and "non-profit" shelters because I already have that information.
I’m looking for links and information about government operated animal shelters. E.g. Finances, how they function, what problems they have (other than over population of pets), etc.
The most helpful answer will get 10 point and my gratitude!
Thanks for your time!
Phone the animal shelter in your area and ask to talk to the manager. Tell them you’re doing interviews for a school project and ask if they’d be able to answer a few questions.

It’s sad when you go to a shelter and see all of the caged animals. I thought i would make this, not to force anyone, but to get the idea into your guys hard metal heads…”not all, but some”… There are so many pets out there that need a loving family, but instead get put into shelters where they are caged until taken or put to rest. Is that a way to live? Lets put you in a cage and see how you like it, knowing that in about 2 weeks your going to be put to sleep. I’ve adopted 2 loveable-crazy- Chihuawua”think thats how you spell it” terriers. We got one about 2 years ago, and got another one about 8 months ago. The first one we got didnt have a story, but we could tell, it had been badly abused, it whined like no other when it mearly saw a drop of water, and if u wanted to pet her it would act as if you hit her. Any food that was given, was gone in a second. Fortunately we were able to save her. =] My other dog we got from family memebrs who couldnt keep him, he wasnt in any danger, just his previous owners had already 2 other dogs. So we took him in… and then we have my fat cat =] MIko lol

This is a video of our trip to a Pet Shelter where we just adopted our 2nd cat Joy. We also visited with the other cats and brought them homemade toys.
I’m hoping it will bring awareness, and perhaps encourage somebody else to let a furry friend come into their life.
