I love those shelter dog commercials where the dog is talking.
Anyways!
This lil ball of loving fluff was a stray.
He was thrown out and left on his own.
After finding him we waited in the front of our house, he came to our back yard, for his owner to come looking.
Nadda.
Went to 3 vets and had him checked for a ID microchip.
Nadda.
Had the vets put up “Dog found” flier things.
Nadda.
He was seemingly unwanted.
He would have been sent to the shelter if we hadn’t found him.
Yet as you can see there is nothing wrong with him.
Though there was something really wrong with the owner to leave this guy to fend on his own :/
He’s officially ours now and in prefect health :3
When I found him he was so skinny I could see every bone in his body, even through his thick fur I could see his ribs.
Now he’s about 16 lbs I believe it was and has the prefect body fat ratio :3
He wakes me up every morning with this act, rolling around and pawing at me for more attention.
He’s house trained and gets along perfectly with our other 2 dogs.
He even likes my bunny, though I limit their interaction to sniffing each other.
And I think most people worry how the dog is going to be around kids.
This lil guy is amazing with kids. He never bites or even nips.
And is extremely gentle with kids of any age.
He’s about 2 years old, maybe 2 and a half now. We’ve had him for about a year. So he’s not gonna leave us any time soon :3
So next time your thinking about adding a fuzzy kid to your family, why not think about getting a shelter dog :3

UPDATE: I am absolutely THRILLED to report that AJAX was adopted on July 22, 2008 by a wonderful person who saw how very special a cat AJAX is and she decided to give him (and Elmer his friend the orange kitten) a Forever Home. For our YOUTUBE friends who have been following the story of AJAX here is a quick summary: AJAX came to our NO-KILL shelter in JANUARY 2008. He always had a very pleasant disposition, sweet, playful, loves human contact, can be held, loves all other cats and he is a marvelous all white beauty. A truely stunning cat, we don’t often have all white cats at Noah’s Kingdom and with his wonderful personality we figured he would be adopted within a few short weeks. However, weeks passed by. Other cats got adopted. New cats came and went. Ajax stayed. He remained in his cage (as all our cats do) for most of the day with the exception of the mornings and evenings when we volunteers were there to feed and care for him. Yet, dispite the fact that weeks and then months passed by, AJAX never grew angry at us humans. He never became bitter. He never lost faith. He just waited and waited and waited some more. One month turned to 2, and then 3 and 4. Surely he would soon find a home. By by June it was KITTEN season and at shelters world wide it sometimes seems that people forget about the plight of adult cats like AJAX and they are just interested in kittens. Again, it never seemed that AJAX lost his faith in humanity. He would greet us each visit and continue to be a perfectly adjusted sweet, playful cat. By July I was just cosumed by thoughts of this beautiful cat sitting in a cage for HALF a YEAR. Again I posted videos, volunteers continued to do all they could do, including putting an advertisement inthe newspaper. And then it happenned…A woman came in and asked about the white cat named AJAX. Over 6 months that he was at the shelter a lot of people have looked at AJAX but something this time was diffrent. She KNEW he was the right cat for her and completed the Adoption Paperwork for AJAX. He was adopted. BUT wait……she had one last question for us: what about he 4 month old orange kitten that AJAX was very good freinds with? Would AJAX be happier if he could take along his little kitten friend? If you didn’t believe in MIRACLES you should by now! YES AJAX got adopted and his little buddy the orange kitten was adopted too! We are very happy and this is one small example of the importance of never giving up hope! These are the moments that remind us of why we VOLUNTEER.
This is another video of beautiful Ajax taken May 2008. He is just a perfect cat and I was certain he would have been adopted the first week he arrived at the shelter —yet he is still here! I think he is simply the cutest kitty and he has a very nice personality. Please consider adopting this cute all white cat! Noah’s Kingdom Humane Society is an all VOLUNTEER, not for profit organization dedicated to animal rescue, adoption and ending animal overpopulation. The cats and dogs we have for adoption are rescued from traditional shelters where they may have been euthanized. In addition, we also aquire cats and dogs from a variety of rescue situations. !! 3 Very CUTE bobcat KITTENS are given a second chance at life after being adopted by a domestic cat !!
With a gun in one hand and a sack of bobcat kittens in the other, an Alabama hunter proudly plopped the newborns down on the counter and asked the veterinary assistant to raise them up for him so he could give them to his kids as pets.
The vet tech was stunned, but quickly recomposed herself to tell the hunter she would do it for him so as to rescue the babies from such an awful fate. She immediately began scouring the Internet for an expert in rehab and release. When she called Carole Baskin of Big Cat Rescue it was agreed that the kittens would come to Florida, be raised for re-release back to the wild and the paperwork began.
It took three days to secure the Florida import permit and time was of the essence. The only kitten formula available to the clinic was one that often causes serious dehydration in bobcat kittens. The second more critical factor was that their eyes would be opening any day and if they were to ever live free it was imperative that they not bond to humans. They never make good pets, but the bonding that takes place during the nursing stage could make them fearless of people and that would get them into trouble as adults.
While Big Cat Rescue President and resident Rehabber, Jamie Veronica, hit the road to begin a 24 hour road trip to rescue the baby bobcats, Big Cat Rescue put out a call to all of the Tampa animal based charities and on all of their social networks that they needed a nursing mother cat who had kittens of her own. Jack Talman of FosteringIsCool.com found a mother cat but her kittens were too old and she was going into heat so there was concern that she may not have milk nor interest for new babies.
Big Cat Rescuer, Merrill Kramer, called on Rick Chaboudy, CEO of Suncoast Animal League in Palm Harbor, FL and he said he thought he had a good candidate. Her name was Bobbi because of her half tail and she had given birth to 6 kittens of her own and then adopted two more. He found foster parents for all but two of the kittens and brought Bobbi and her brood over to see what she thought of diversifying her family.
Introductions like these can be very scary because the mother cat can be overly protective of her own kittens and fatally strike out at the new comers. President, Jamie Veronica, has had a considerable amount of experience in this area though and had taken every precaution to make sure it went as well as it possibly could. Bobbi turned out to be a dream come true for three little orphaned bobcats though. She immediately pulled them in close to nurse and began to bathe them. The little bobcat babies were so startled that they hissed at her!
She ignored their resistance and just kept on loving on them. Once they figured out that this strange smelling “bobcat” mom had the real deal to offer at her breasts, they were in love too.

This is a video of our trip to a pet shelter where we just adopted our 2nd cat Joy. We also visited with the other cats and brought them homemade toys.
I’m hoping it will bring awareness, and perhaps encourage somebody else to let a furry friend come into their life.
