The general public needs to be re-educated that you do not use the shelters as a dumping ground for your peeing cat or barking dog that you bought thougtlessly in the first place.”
“Many animals are abandoned not because they have behavior problems, but simply because they have become inconvenient…
Basically, dogs are abandoned or surrendered to shelters because they misbehave. Dogs misbehave (act like dogs), simply because no one taught them how to behave appropriately when living with people,, Some get a second chance, some dont.
Locked up in that cage, day in and day out, without adequate exercise, eating whatever greasy store brand food is available that day, with other dogs barking incessantly, limited human contact, living in it’s own excrement, the list goes on and on.
Could these dogs be rehabilitated if adopted?
More than likely. so is it fair to the dog to allow it to slowly go mad, wasting away in a cage for weeks, months? Jumping up the wall, pacing, running in circles. These are all symptoms that a dog has reached the end of its tolerance for the situation.
A rescue dog from the SPCA Shelter, We’re grateful that he can be a part of our lives, and that he’ll spend his final days safe, happy and well-fed.”
What could be kinder and more caring than offering a loving home to a sweet senior dog so that they can live their golden years in happiness, having a home of their own and being loved and cared for.
*…Saving just one pet won’t change the world …but, surely, the world will change for that one pet…*
We are the voices, and speak, for those who can’t speak for themselves.

The global economic crisis is also affecting pets. Many families can no longer afford their mortgaged home and as they move to a rented or smaller house, they are forced to leave their pets behind. The number of pets being dropped off to a New Jersey pet shelter has increased to sixty per cent. [Denton Infield, Pet Shelter Manager]: “We have a lot of people turning animals in who can no longer afford it, have lost their homes to foreclosure or are moving and just cannot afford the rent anymore — moving into smaller properties where they’re not allowed to have animals and of course they are turning them into shelters.” Dropping off a pet to a shelter is often a last-resort decision and one that causes families a lot of grief. [Denton Infield, Pet Shelter Manager]: “Well, people turning in animals because they can no longer afford them, it’s like giving up a part of your family — a lot of tears, a lot of heartache, upset. You can see it in the kids. They don’t want to let the cats go. They hold on to them.” The recession is also hitting hard the running of pet shelters with a drop by two-thirds on donations over the past year. According to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), five to seven million animals go into the shelter each year. And three to five million of those are put to sleep for lack of space and resources. [Joe Sullivan, Senior Vice-President, ASPCA]: “These are wonderful, adoptable pets so it’s a very high risk factor that unless you offer yourself as a foster home or you help the family find temporary housing, that these animals could be euthanized for lack of space and that’s a horrible reason for a pet to die.” Sullivan recommends people to call their local shelters to ask how they can help, whether it be to foster, send funds or donate time

R&b Artist, Chris Tian who was seen on NBC’S Today Show in New York City with news anchor Pat Battle 2008 launches a national campaign for ADOPT-A-PET. Chris is campaigning 2 of his songs and 50% of the proceeds are going right back to Adopt-A-Pet.com. Chris Tian’s ALL ABOUT LOVE CAMPAIGN just got launched today on November 3rd and will continue until January 5th, 2010. His 2 songs are, “ALL ABOUT LOVE” and BABY, COME ON OUT(featuring Black Eyed Peas guitarist J. Curtis).
Tian quotes, “I love pets and I’ve grown up with all kinds of animals in my life. From mice, frogs, cats, birds and I even had a monkey. I adopted a cat 3 years ago from the New Hampshire SPCA(NHSPCA) and his name is LEXUS. Chris also states that when a person downloads a song for Adopt-A-Pet, it’s almost like giving back to the owners who had to give up their pets for survival reasons in hopes of adoption and this economy is messing with everyones lives. That’s why Tian feels like giving back to ADOPT-A-PET who helps all the animal shelters throughout the nation where people find their pets.
